Prospect-Central: HS Basketball c/o 2015 Tournament of Champions!!!

PROSPECT-CENTRAL: Class of 2015

Written by: Prospect-Central

With the 2014 AAU basketball season in full effect, Prospect-Central will be releasing its new class rankings within the upcoming weeks. As always, PC likes to start at the top of the food chain, so here's a sneak peek at some of the top incoming seniors from the Class of 2015.

Now obviously we've all heard of 'March Madness' before, but this is a little something I like to call 'May Madness!' It's essentially the same thing as the NCAA Tournament, minus the gambling of course :) Here's a quick breakdown on how the players were seeded.

Just like the NCAA Tournament, the 64 recruits were separated into four regions, starting with the top overall seed (Ben Simmons) in the South region. From there, the second No. 1 seed (Ivan Rabb) went to the West region, followed by third No. 1 seed (Malik Newman) in the Midwest region, and the fourth No. 1 seed (Diamond Stone) in the East region.

After the top four recruits were seeded, I moved one region to the right and placed the first No. 2 seed in the West region. This was followed by the second No. 2 seed in the Midwest, third No. 2 seed in the East, and fourth No. 2 seed in the South. I continued moving clockwise during the entire seeding process.

Since this is completely subjective, opinions will obviously vary as to the players and their rankings. Even though there's definitely room for improvement, make no mistake about it; the majority of these recruits should make up next years McDonald's All-American game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Nike Hoop Summit.

Now that's all fine & dandy, but any big-time HS recruit could be invited to those events. On the contrary, there can only be one winner of Prospect-Central's inaugural HS Basketball c/o 2015 Tournament of Champions. Time to fill out some brackets!

Prospect-Central: Final 2014 NFL Mock Draft!!!

PROSPECT-CENTRAL: 2014 NFL Mock Draft

Written by: Prospect-Central

The 2014 NFL Draft can be summed up in two words, six syllables..."Jadeveon Clowney!"

Jadeveon Clowney: 4.53 forty-yard dash
There's been much written on the 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive end by way of South Carolina. From his insane 4.53 forty-yard dash, to his ridiculous 83-inch wingspan, to his ESPY winning hit on Michigan running back Vincent Smith, to his questionable work ethic and motor. Jadevon Clowney has been scrutinized to the umf-degree, and rightfully so.

But after watching this young man play football since he was a sophomore at South Point High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina, I can honestly say I've never seen another defensive lineman as physically talented as one Jadeveon Clowney.

Will Clowney become the No. 1 pick in this years draft? If the Houston Texans are smart he will be. I don't care if the Texans need a quarterback. I don't care if the Texans get bombarded with trade offers. I don't care if the Texans feel Clowney doesn't fit their scheme. The bottom line is this; he has a rare combination of size, speed, power, and athletic ability, and if the Texans pass on this 'kid', they'll most certainly regret it.

Jadeveon Clowney: 37.5 inch vertical leap
Now all of this has been said before. I haven't stepped out on any limb just yet. So how do I really feel? There are only two things that'll prevent Jadeveon Clowney from ending his career in Canton; injuries or himself. While he can't control injuries, he can control his desire & passion. With his work ethic already in question, look for Clowney to immediately become one of the top pass-rushers in the league, quickly proving any doubters wrong.

Now the key for Clowney will be after he signs his 2nd contract. Once he locks up that deal, which very likely could make him the highest paid defensive player in the league; will he still be motivated then? If he starts resting on his laurels all of a sudden, he'll obviously never reach his full potential. But if he's able to fight complacency, you can bank on double-digit sacks & multiple Pro-Bowl's for nearly his entire career.

So there you go. I've basically enshrined Clowney into the Hall-of-Fame, before we even know if he'll be the first pick in this years draft (smh). While I wouldn't bet the farm on this prognostication, I certainly wouldn't bet against it. The ball is in Clowney's court now. Time to see how everything plays out; starting with Prospect-Central's Final 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
