PROSPECT-CENTRAL: Final 2013 NBA Mock Draft!!!

PROSPECT-CENTRAL: 2013 NBA Mock Draft

Written by: Prospect-Central

The ride leading up to the 2013 NBA Draft has been a bumpy one to say the least. With no franchise changing players to be found, projecting this years draft was a little more challenging than in years past.

2013 NBA Draft
Just because there are no "superstars" however, that doesn't necessarily mean this is a weak draft. On the contrary, there's a tremendous amount of depth within the class, and if NBA teams have done their due diligence, they should be able to find some potential steals littered throughout the late 1st and early 2nd rounds.

Usually it's the NFL Draft loaded with trade rumors. This year the NBA appears to be doing its best impersonation of musical chairs. Nearly ever team in the Lottery seems to be shopping their picks, and most of them are trying to move back in the draft. Another sign this years class is not that strong.

Since certain teams are targeting certain players and trade rumors are rampant, it was obviously difficult pinpointing which players would land where. No Mock Draft is perfect however, and this year holds true to that saying more than ever.

When creating NBA Mock Drafts, Prospect-Central likes to start early. Since PC's a relatively new site, the first initial 2013 NBA Mock Draft was released two years ago, but usually an NBA Mock Draft Lottery is released four years in advance. That may sound kind of crazy, but with basketball you can tell at an early age if a kid's going to be a player or not.

By the time these players enter their sophomore year of high school, there's usually enough info to create a somewhat realistic NBA Mock Draft Lottery. Because they're so young however, and their games and bodies are constantly developing, anything more than 14 players would be a little bit absurd. Projecting a Lottery on the other hand, seems perfectly reasonable. Nothing is set in stone of course, so new names are constantly emerging as the years go by.

Once a class is two years away from being drafted, an entire NBA Mock Draft can start to take shape. By that time there's a better understanding about which players are the cream of the crop, and which players are on borrowed time.

Please take this into consideration though. If NBA teams can't even decide who the best players are the night before the draft, you can only imagine what it's like trying to predict the best players years in advance. Point being, don't take these Mock Drafts too seriously. While they're helpful in showcasing some players people might not be familiar with, they're more for fun than anything else. Bottom line, the true players are eventually found one way or another.

2013 NBA Draft
Which brings us to Prospect-Central's Final 2013 NBA Mock Draft. Because of all the trade speculation, this was somewhat of a tricky draft to predict, but PC gave it the old college try. Obviously there have been a number of changes since the first edition, but for the most part all the players have been the same.

If I had to ballpark it, I would say about 70% of the players have been in PC's Mock Draft since it was first released two years ago. Whether the draft plays out this way or not, we'll find out soon enough, but one thing is becoming abundantly clear; the 2013 NBA Draft is gonna be chalk full of surprises! 2013 NBA Mock Draft Database.
