2012 NBA Draft |
Written by: Prospect-Central
The day is finally here...The 2012 NBA Draft!!! According to the National Federation of High Schools, there were 17,969 high school basketball programs in the country this year; giving us a grand total of 540,207 aspiring NBA ballers. There's currently 345 Division I college basketball teams, meaning there's less than 4,500 spots for these NBA hopefuls. Lets not forget all the international players who have dreams of making the league as well. The NBA drafts 60 players each year, and only 30 have guaranteed contracts. So, the odds of a REALLY, REALLY good 14-year old basketball player making the NBA...roughly .001%!!! If you remove international players from the mix, 3 out of 10,000 high school basketball players will be drafted into the NBA. That's .03%. Statistically speaking, there's a better chance of being struck by lightening than playing in the NBA. So when these 60 men finally reach their dreams come June 28th, they'll accomplish something few could only fathom and truly enter rarefied air. 2012 NBA Mock Draft Database * Below is Prospect-Central's 2012 NBA Mock Draft & actual selections.
