Prospect-Central: Final 2015 NBA Mock Draft |
Written by: Prospect-Central
To the casual basketball fan & mainstream media; the 2015 NBA Draft is roughly three months in the making. For recruitniks & media specializing in the draft; you're looking at about another three years on top of that. When it comes to PC and the 2015 NBA Draft; you can take those three years and more than double it!
I can't pinpoint the exact time when I first began to contemplate the 2015 NBA Draft, but it was well before PC was even in existence. Basically, the minute I catch wind of a talented young hooper, you already know the wheels are turning. When it comes to this years draft class, it definitely started early.
It was in 2008 at the Playaz Spring Fling, when a 6th grader named Karl Towns, Jr. first entered the radar of PC. Three years later, PC was up & running and you better believe KAT would be one of the 1st players featured by the site.
D'Angelo Russell, Emmanuel Mudiay, Justise Winslow, and Stanley Johnson would all enter the limelight together, joining Okafor at the 2010 Fab Frosh All-American Camp. They would go on to have outstanding prep school careers, before ultimately becoming future NBA Lottery picks from the same draft class.
Moving to some international players; Kristaps Porzingis entered PC's mock draft more than two years ago, after a very impressive performance at the 2013 Nike Junior International Tournament. Mario Hezonja on the other hand, became privy to PC when he first started playing pro ball in Europe at just 14-years old.
That's only half the players that will be selected in the lottery tonight, but these are the players that will help shape the 2015 Draft class. Of course there will always be some players that slip through the cracks, but they don't stay hidden for long. If you can ball, you will be found one way or another.
With NBA Mock Draft's stretching as far as the year 2019, people can lose reality with just how difficult it is to actually be drafted into the National Basketball Association. On average, there's roughly 538,000 young men playing HS basketball in any given year. That's a lot of dreams that will never come to fruition, because only 0.03% will eventually be drafted into the league.
The NBA is certainly not for everyone, but for these sixty men it's not only about to become reality, it's about to become their way of life. It looks like there's only one thing left to do; time to find out exactly where the journey begins. Prospect-Central's Final 2015 NBA Mock Draft
